Transforming Solid Surfaces into Lasting Visual Statements

Imagine your favorite image – vivid and vibrant – permanently embedded into a solid surface. That’s the power of Dye Sublimation by surfaceLAB. This innovative imaging technique brings your design vision to life by fusing color directly into the material itself, creating custom, high-performance visuals elements built to endure.

What is Dye Sublimation?

Dye Sublimation is a premium imaging process that uses heat and pressure to transfer dye directly into solid surface materials. Unlike surface printing, the image becomes part of the material – resulting in brilliant, full-color visuals that won’t peel, scratch, or fade over time.

Where Design Meets Durability

From refined textures to bold graphics, Dye Sublimation offers exceptional creative flexibility. Whether you’re replicating natural materials like wood or stone, or showcasing high-impact images, logos, or photography, the results are seamless and stunning.

Common applications included:

• Healthcare environments
• Retail displays
• Hospitality and entertainment
• Corporate interiors
• Custom wall cladding or partitions

Additionally, thanks to the translucency of some solid surfaces, backlighting is absolutely an option – allowing for attention-grabbing, illuminated designs.

Materials, Limitations & Specs

To get the most from your sublimation project, here are key technical details:

• Best Materials: White or light-colored acrylic solid surfaces work best
• Max Panel Size: 5’ x 12’ (Larger areas can use multiple panels with aligned seams)
• Surface Finish: Smooth, integrated, and non-textured
• Edge Options: 90° return edges available; Schluter®-style trim can be used
• Thermoforming: Compatible post-sublimation
• Backlighting: Compatible with translucent materials
• Color Matching: Pantone matching available
• Not Recommended: Polyester-based solids or exterior applications

Built for Performance

Dye Sublimated panels don’t just look good – they’re engineered to perform:

• Scratch, stain, and water-resistant
• Anti-microbial and easy to clean
• Impact-resistant and Class A fire rated
• Suitable for use in high-traffic, high-cleaning environments

Even after fabrication, the material retains its durable, hygienic properties – perfect for healthcare, food service, or high-use commercial settings.

Easy Maintenance & Repairs

Routine maintenance is simple: most cleaning can be done with mild soap and water, though stronger cleaners are also safe. Minor scuffs can be polished out, while deeper damage may require panel replacement.

The Process – How to Get Started

Each Dye Sublimation project is custom. Here’s what to expect:

1. Submit your artwork – Ensure it’s high-resolution (300DPI or better)
